A beautiful sunbird

and a great lion sighting

We simply love all the sunbirds but we in fact do see them extreme seldom

Lovely stuff, Pumbaa, it feels as though we are right there with you!

The causeway sure was full!

Great sunbird, love Mopane!

And a great concrete backdrop to the lions...something different!

We were so much looking forward to spend time at this causeway as there are always many birds to be seen but we arleady supposed to see same like that at least the lions compensated us extreme

He was more than willing to give us more of such funny poses

We enjoyed it so much to just stand there and hearing and photographing the jackals



whilst observing the lions on the other side







and then back to the jackals out of which suddenly so many could be seen and we were thrilled that we did not see them earlier.





It got later and later but we still had enough time and so we also noticed two elephant bulls



still in the distance but coming steadily closer to the water reservoir.



For sure we were happy to finally have the lions now that close





and must say it was hard to choose a favourite as we took so many pictures



finally they decided to move sideways from the reservoir



and they did in fact nearly everything

to bring the camera to glow





as they posed like mad and although we took already that many shots they posed with each minute we stayed with them better and better.





Sorry for the many shots but it was such a wonderful sighting and we were so happy on top that the rain stopped and it was still that bright nearly with sunshine.



The elephants now were far closer but the lions still stayed where they were





whilst one of the bulls now could be discovered already just behind the reservoir



whilst the other one was happy to stay away from the lions in the distance and drank from a larger puddle





and even sprayed around. It looked as if this one was far shyer than the other elephant bull



who was in the end not able to chase the lions away so he had to drank from the reservoir whilst the lions still laid behind same.



After another hour we spent now nearly all alone at that magnificent sighting we decided to leave as also gate closing time was nearing slowly and whilst driving back to camp we stopped for a couple of amur falcons who were hanging around.



Back in camp we then enjoyed the rest of the evening on our verandah until it was time for the bed.

Yes there were a lot of jackals around and I suppose there were more around - At least it was lot to see
