We were a bit lazy due to the heat but we decided to do a short afternoon drive along the S44 and back via the S93 and right when we turned into the hilly and rocky sand road we stopped for a kori bustard
nearly blocking the road
together with lots of impalas in the background.
The impalas still mostly stayed in the shade
and the kori walked along the roadside close to the impalas.
Due to the heat it was quiet, however, the stop at the Olifants lookout point is always breath taking and also in the afternoon light
same is a feast for the eyes.
Sigh – We could have stayed there for the rest of the day but as it was already late we had to continue
and found another cinnamon breasted bunting along the way.
Close to camp then already on the S93 we found more giraffes
and only heard the korhaan and nearly overlooked same as it came never out of the hight grass.
Back in camp we enjoyed the evening on our verandah with another delicious braai but went to bed early as we were a bit tired due to the heat.

Tuesday, 25. February 2021 - Olifants
Explored roads: H8 – S44 – S93 – S46 – H1-5 – H9 – H1-6 – S95 – S62 – H1-6 – S95 – H1-5 – S91 – S92 – H8
The obligatory coffee is always a must on our verandah when in Kruger and after we had packed everything for the day we left camp and turned again into the S44 where we were soon faced this beautiful sunrise.
It was still extreme early and we were the only car outside the camp at least it felt so as we were all along on the road.
Soon we again came across another kori bustard
who must have been the same one we already saw yesterday during our afternoon drive.
but funny was that suddenly in front of our car another one popped out of the bush and was now walking on the road too
and soon we had three of them in front of us.
Never seen so many of them together so far – Two of them we already saw often but nevertheless it was a more than great start into the day with these birds
and after a final close up we carried on
only to stop in front of a bush full of red billed queleas.
to be continued…………………..

What a great camp Olifants is, Pumbaa!
Lovely views, and thanks for them, we are always there in winter!
Unusual Kori gathering!
Ja, we lost our sugar to the baboons there!

The view there is priceless and we often stay one afternoon in camp and simply enjoy the view from our verandah - Always incredible
