There are great sightings to be had every day in the KTP, take more pictures, it costs nothing once you have bought a digital camera and SD card.

Don't think the animals do it much in my neck of the woods... -O-

I think it depends on the minerals the animals get from their food, I'm sure there must be salt-licks in Kruger and I'm sure that some game reserves supply minerals to their animals.

After a coffee break at Melkvlei we had an uneventful drive across the dunes with nothing worth reporting.

We were rewarded for our lack of sightings near Rooibrak water hole!

I then had a chance to get a Black Korhaan before it hid behind the nearest bush as the others I'd seen were inclined to do.

Then a sighting to spoil it all. I found the behavior of the other tourists to be pretty good in general but one or two tourons (cross between a tourist and a moron) managed to visit the KTP.
Image

I stopped and asked if they had a problem and they replied that they hadn't so decided to report them for blatantly ignoring the park rules; you have to sign a copy of them when you enter the KTP so there's no excuse! When I got online that evening, I sent a copy of the above picture to the section ranger! Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of it.

I drove up the Nossob river for my solo afternoon drive and saw mostly the usual suspects. I was just about to turn around and head back to camp when I spotted some movement in the bushes.

And lastly, I couldn't resist an Ostrich in superb light.

If my guess is correct and you mixed up Rooibrak and Rooikop
(which I do all the time 0*\ ), then could you please add your
super-fantastic cheetah sighting to this thread?

Honey badger - geez, I'm greengreengreen. Everbody seems get great sightings of them... but me O/

(0!) for the tourons! (But I like you creation and will adopt it immediately -O )

nan, I guess the ranger got the plate in full visibility which is good enough as we can't make use of it anyway. \O

No, Rooibrak on the Auob river side - we drove across the south dune road.

This HB was quite a long way off, the pictures are cropped quite a bit.

Unfortunately I can't claim the credit for inventing the Tourons nickname, I picked it up from someone I was chatting to a Mopani camp many years ago and have used it ever since. It's very apt for these particular ummmmm "people".
