Every Springbok herd had one of these alpha males trotting around - they were easy to pick out!

When we left the Suricates, I noticed that I only had a few shots left on the card and thought "I'd better load a new one" then I forgot 0*\

2015, I'm thinking April or September, which is best?

I've never been in September but lots of people went / go and they're quite happy with that descision.
Vegetation is still low as the rain hasn't started yet. Temperatures are higher than in August - at least
on average, but I think you hit a rather coolish spell (at least when it came to night temps) on top of it anyway.

We often go in April because of my school holidays and the park is usually packed. 0*\
Sightings are good, but it obviously depends on your luck as well. Lions will go sleeping by nine as it
gets rather hot throughout the day. But leopard can be active if you're lucky and we've watched cheetah
hunting in 30+ degrees in the middle of the day. BEFs, Cape foxes, meerkats, HBs and so on tend to be
more active in the earlier hours and late in the afternoon. Haven't seen many of them on afternoon drives
so far though.

April can also be a good month to experience spectacular thunderstorms. And despite the drought this year
we had hardly any major sightings at waterholes anyway, so it doesn't matter if there are pools around every-
where after the rain, IMO.

Still, if I had the choice, I'd go in September (out of school holidays!) - just because I think there a less people
around. \O

Frustrating when that happens - I'm not laughing about it either. I was getting a running commentary of what I was missing from my SO while I was changing the card :-(
