Radio City Music Hall is located in the Rockefeller Centre and is one of the largest theatres in the northern hemisphere, seating nearly 6000 people.
The Brat enjoyed their visit!
What's a trip to New York without a visit to the famous 5th Avenue?! The Brat loved all the Haute Couture shops and made sure that we returned together and spent a bit of money there!
They were meant to visit the Statue of Liberty but there was a bomb scare on the island that day so this is as close as they got.
The Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts has 30 indoor and outdoor performance facilities and is the home of 11 arts organisations including jazz, ballet, film, opera, performing arts, chamber music, theatre and philharmonic orchestra.
It is also where the famous Juilliard School of Music is found. The Brat had notions of studying there in the future until he found out that the fees for one year are about $70 000!
The Brat was really looking forward to the Guggenheim Art Museum but decided that the best thing about it was the actual building - designed by Frank Lloyd Wright!
Wall Street is about 1.1kms long and runs through the financial district of lower Manhattan. There are various stories as to how the name came about but the generally accepted version is that the name of the street was derived from an earthen wall on the northern boundary of the New Amsterdam settlement, perhaps to protect against English colonial encroachment or incursions by native Americans.
The famous Wall Street Bull which symbolises aggressive financial optimism and prosperity.
The last museum of the trip was the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum at Pier 86. It is a military and maritime history museum.
There were many other outings where the Brat did not take any pics - one of the best stories was from their visit to quite a fancy school on Staten Island. When they got to the school, one of the teachers greeted them and said they had driven over a "bridge" to get to the island, making the shape of a bridge with her hands. She really thought that being from South Africa, they did not know what a bridge was!!
They were then shown around the school, and some of the students proudly showed them their computer lab which had some rather old and tatty looking computers. The Brat and his friends told them "we have Mac's"! 
The students were also very eager to show them their "outdoor field" to which our students replied "we have 6!" 
They also visited a school in the Bronx which they said was quite an eye-opener. Every student has to pass through a metal detector before entering the school because of the gang violence. They were told that most of the students belonged to gangs, and it's known that some of these gangs order a "kill" as an entrance requirement!
During their New York stay they went to two Broadway musicals, The Lion King (which the Brat really enjoyed) and The Phantom of the Opera (he fell asleep during that
)! Every night they went to a well-known restaurant like Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. (from the Forrest Gump movie), Ellen's Starburst Diner, Hard Rock Cafe, and a restaurant in Little Italy to name a few.
There were many more places they visited that I haven't mentioned here (some we visited again together, so I will post those pics), but they had an absolute ball, and it was worth every cent we paid. When I met up with the Brat I could see how he had matured in only 10 days and become more independent.
