The hornbills also like flame grilled meat

Yip also saw quite a few Ellies in newly burnt sections and learnt recently that they and some other not mentioned animals like to go into these areas and eat trees that are caramelized by the fires heat .

Interesting temperature also taken at Afsaal!
Lots of burning indeed, Rog.
And nice to meet gnu...

except when we came back to stop quickly after doing the loop the temperature guy had vanished off somewhere

At the weir there was a Pair of crocs sunning themselves .
The water was quite low and still .
There were some birds about .
These two were busy in the bushes and refused to turn around as well .
The view from the opposite side of the Weir was quite peaceful but the heat was on the rise and it was getting above 30's again
We decided to drive down to Berg en Dal to stock up with the food for tonight and then check in at Malelane . There was nothing much photo worthy on the way to Berg en Dal as most animals had moved into the shade due to the heat ...

The Camp shop was very quiet but well stocked .We noticed that most of the camp notice boards were well out of date some still showing drives and walks from December .After purchasing some meat to braai and some water we left Berg en Dal shop to go to Malelane Gate to check into the camp . On the way we found another vehicle stopped and there in a tree we had passed probably less than half an hour before on our way to camp was this fat cat
After a while the cat moved branches and carried on sleeping .So we took our last pics and moved on .The word had obviously gone out on the app or radio and vehicles were pilling in .
After checking in and driving to camp to offload we went for a drive around the river road .Our first sighting was
We drove past Gardenia hide .It was in a very poor state as was the river road .We did not take any pictures of the state of it . Somewhere we saw some big unmentioned animals . On the way back from the hide we decided to drive the Timfene loop .About halfway down I saw some spots in the grass .Leopard- I took some quick pics but it was moving away into the drainage away from the road .We went forward and back but it did not reappear .
Spot the spots
On the way back to camp we enjoyed the Kruger landscapes and scenery at sunset .
We went back to camp for the evening ...
