What another wonderful private encounter, Pumbaa!

However, always on of our favourites in that area as same is good for some surprises

A bit in the distance we detected a couple of vultures on the ground obviously feeding on something which must have explained the full bellies and also finally I noticed the male while he was lifting his head





as when he would have laid flat on the ground we most likely might have missed him



and finally another car also appeared on the scene and could at least observe the male at length too



whilst the females unfortunately kept out of sight from them.



After a long while we watched him he then also decided to stand up with a massive swarm of flies on his back



and with a final look into the direction where the rest of his pride must have kept hidden he also crossed the street and joined them. They indeed did not walk far into the bush they still were extreme close to the road but as we meanwhile spend over and hour with them and most likely nothing else will happen until the early evening we continued extreme happy our way.



On the turnoff into the direction of Gudzani dam we came across another group of ground hornbills



and finally at the dam we looked onto masses of hippos lying close together as we wanted to drive one final time our beloved S100 but as nature was meanwhile calling urgently we needed a stopover at N’wanetsi picnic spot



but before we simply had to stop at one of the causeways as two green backed herons could be seen.

The rest was then quiet but after having enjoyed for the very last time this year the view from N’wanetsi picnic spot we drove back via the S41 and at one of the larger causeways we noticed a group of baboons in the riverbed and this mom was drinking from a remaining puddle. In the beginning she forget that her little one was hanging under her and so the little one got wet as well and must have hit its head.



Along the way we detected blue waxbills in a bush



and another black crowned tchagra



who luckily stayed with us for a couple of shots.



Also the steenbock was not that shy and more interested in feeding than in running away.



The carmine bee eaters then occurred again in masses



and we were happy to get a couple of shots.



Lots of giraffes were now also present



and some posed so nicely either behind their private bush



or whilst enjoying their brunch.

What a stunning Lion sighting .So many flies on one Lion .

Love the Baboon drinking and the bee eaters

Aminals all over the place,Pumbaa!

I like the baboon setup!

What a swarm of flies on that male...must be the meat on him!

Naughty giraffe! It's sticking its tongue out at me

The birdies are beautiful as always

And I like that photo of the steenbok in the high grass. Pretty
