We have a resident pair of Dwarf Goshawks in our suburb.
On several occasions we have seen one or the other perched in our garden trees feeding on small birds - always at or just after sunset.
This afternoon at approx. 4 PM I noticed one in the Umzimbeet forest we have in our garden below the house. He/she was feeding on a small un-identified bird and I managed to get a couple of photos.
[ Pardon the quality as lighting in the tree canopy was poor and I only had a small tunnel through the branches and foliage through which I could see the feeding bird.]

Excellent pics 100Ponder.
Great sighting.
These are great for ID purposes, so hope that you don't mind if one of the mods copies them into our bird book here?

Saw my dog staring up into the jacarandah tree right in front of the stoep . Wow , turns out to be a gymnogene .
Rushed into the house , grabbed my camera , but just as I got the cam ready to " shoot" , he spread his wings , and flew off .
Just managed to get this pic
