BTW: The Hawkie is an African Humming Bird Moth Macroglossum trochilus ;-)

At this rate of beautiful sightings we don't get around with the IDs =O:

Thanks for the correction! These days I don't have a lot of time to ID them after I've spent time getting the shots and then more time processing them. Winter is a good time for identifying and cataloguing.

Winter has arrived in Johannesburg, a bit earlier than usual. The low temperatures seem to be keeping the bugs away and the past long weekend's sightings were very sparse.

This appears to be a Dragonfly I've not seen in my garden before, unless it's a morph of the Red Veined Dropwing.

A Yellow Pansy Butterfly, the first I've managed to get pictures of.

And a day flying moth - very difficult to photograph as they do not settle; they feed while hovering at flowers.
