Only once have I met a big herd of buffalos crossing the road. We arrived when they had already started to cross and it took ages, but there were some interesting curious ones among them and also some rather big bulls so the that were shot, were quite a few

That windmill (James) can be quite productive!

Interesting some drinking there, but it is really too small for such a big herd, so of course there had to be water in the stream too!

Buffs can be extremely intimidating up close....I've also held my breath a few times when driving close to them!

We have also ended up in between a herd of buffalo like that a few years ago. It was actually amazing

The SO and I spent two nights in a private camp in Greater Kruger once and
had a similar buff experience. The guide had us sit amongst them for quite
some time and it was a pretty exciting experience. Still, you never know
what's going to happen, so getting on the other side of them unscathed is
desirable

Moving slowly through a buff herd isn’t normally an issue, well we have done it many times

Thank you all for the comments - sorry it's been a bit of a break in this tale, but work has simply swamped general life lately.

Sat 30th June

It was our last full day before heading home, so we were at the gate nice and early again but this time there were no lions to welcome us. In fact pretty much all the animals seemed to have gone on holiday somewhere else as it was a really quiet day to end off our trip. Despite trying our luck on the S130/S137/S28 it wasn't until further up on the H4-2 that we had something interesting in the form of a Kori Bustard fairly close to the road





After a brief pit-stop at Lower Sabie we parked off at Sunset dam for a bit. There were the usual suspects soaking up the morning sun





There was also a bit of activity in the water with a crocodile fishing and a White-Crowned Plover which we hadn't seen before







Another monitor lizard made us laugh... maybe it was lost and was trying to work out where it was



After the lack of sightings we were hitting the H4-1 at about the earliest time of the trip so I was sure something would pop out. But again it was all very quiet which in hindsight was nice because it meant no traffic jams

The only sightings on the way up to the H12 bridge were a kudu trying to eat some strange round solid green fruit, a lone old buffalo and a load of vultures but no sign of a kill
