Great three in one there, Pumbaa :-)
Yes, we had luck with that many species there after the lions went into sleeping mode X#X

We did not hang around long and were soon back on the road into the direction of the S65 but for sure a must stop is then always at DeLaporte waterhole.

When we arrived there it was quiet and we were the only car but we had luck as soon a group of buffaloes in single file was about to arrive and for sure we parked already in pole position

Image

as all were extreme thirsty.

Image

Between all the males we also discovered a single female and we were happy that they presented us themselves that close as to us they are always fascinating and very impressive animals.

Image

Compared to the other waterholes we visited so far this year in the South this one was good filled and they could easily quench their thirst

Image

Image

These animals are also always great posers and do offer quite a lot of good photographic opportunities so we stayed with them until they finished and walked their way.

Image

Image

Due to the wetness last year we did not visit Transport dam but with this year’s dryness we decided to drive the little detour to Transport dam. As already expected the water level was low but therefore we were already welcomed by a lot of waterbucks either in the distance

Image

or even extreme close.

Image

Needless to say that soon a lot of pictures were taken

Image

when such a beauty is posing like mad.

Somehow we did not see any birds and after we got our shots we left and finally turned into the S65 and for sure we stopped again for a lot of impalas

Image

and especially the ones with oxpeckers got our attention

Image

whilst some European bee eaters were hanging around as well

Image

and after they flew away we continued in observing our beloved impalas.

Image

Unfortunately the rest of our beloved S65 was extreme quiet during that time of the day but at least at N’waswitshaka waterhole a herd of elephants were about to arrive

Image

whilst others were already on their way back into the bush

Image

with some grazing impalas in the background we could not hesitate in taking a couple of bum shots from the elephant family.

Image

After the waterhole the road got quiet again with not even a single bird around as well but the tar road leading to Lake Panic at least let us stop for some zebras out of which one was standing on a small hill

Image

and for more impalas until it was time for us to visit Lake Panic.

Image

to be continued……
