I haven't been past Shing yet, but I believe that it can be a mission to find lion and leopard up that side, hence the reason I haven't gone that far up 0:

A bit of an interlude...I forgot the drama of the previous evening...

The sun set:

All was going well until supper was ready, when a massive windstorm sprang up! Followed by added torrents of rain! Not surprising after the endless buildup of heat and humidity... ;-) ..0..

The thing is, 100 years ago the builders of TEBA were only too happy to have rain, so to honour the rain gods, omitted windows or shutters? -O-

Just kidding...the buildings are surrounded by big stoeps, with only insect netting, while the interior rooms have windows...very clever for the heat!

However, we were operating in the kitchen, eventually, hiding, in fact, as water sprayed through the stoep area where some of the beds and much of the furniture were! O-/

It was scary, and obviously the power was out. We huddled and ate, and I got my first serious injury of the trip... :-(

You know how sometimes when you strike a match the whole head comes off and falls into the palm of your hand and burns there like a phosphorus grenade?

That happened! 0: O/

Fortunately ice was close by again... \O

It was crazy after that...this was some the first proper rain for the year there, I think, and insects and vermin were emerging/escaping/sheltering all over the place. Some rather hefty spiders came abseiling down out of the thatch above us, for example! lol

SW showed her colours, and took it in her stride very well. Some ladies I know would have had a fit! =O: \O

No, I don't know :-? Our matches do not behave like that lol Big scar? and then all the rain, creepy crawlies all over the place, terrible! Luckily SW was with you to bring support ;-) --00-- --00--

Thanks! lol

Back to the morning of the next day earlier previously... O-/

Some of the wind damage on the way to Brunch at the picnic spot...

Image

It was so nice to have a reasonable skottel brunch, compared to the ghastly cholesterol overeating orgy that normally happens with the Dimwits or family! ^Q^ O/\ O\/ 0:

Image

Frank, the attendant and an old friend, was somewhere in the background...strange, in fact...some sort of meeting? Oh well....

Frank's wife: "He has a girl with him? Is this the one you speak of?"

Frank: "Ja...but I'm sure..."

Frank's wife: "And where are the maniacs?"

Frank: "Well, they should be..."

Frank's wife: "Your stories are a lie, this man is clearly a wonderful person!"

Frank: "You should have seen..."

And we relaxed at the pool at TEBA for the rest of the day....no pics allowed, but certainly restful!

That evening, SW was busy enjoying the sense of peace, and getting into the somnambulism that eventually catches all in paradise. So I went on a quick drive by myself! \O

Talk about a sighting at the gate! Hadn't seen these chaps for a while! ^Q^

Image

Then a detour around the little dirt road that links the tar to the river road, actually a picturesque loop! \O

It was getting dark and cloudy... O-/

Image

This buff with the earrings played havoc with the light sensor! lol

Image

And an incredible sighting, back on the river drive! The kudu on the right has an extended left horn of 5 turns! A record indeed! ^Q^ X#X

Question: What is the rarest antelope ever photographed in Kruger? It was in the Pafuri area!
