I had to split this episode as there were too many pics. ;-)

We had just enough time before gate closing to stop at Sunset Dam and watch scores of Openbills coming home to roost.

A water monitor crept along the bank in front of us.

Image

And so it was time for our first braai in Kruger! O:V You can just make out the new kitchen area behind Mommo. It really was a pleasure having hot plates and hot water so close! \O

Image

Mommo then realised he had left the dominoes at home! 0*\ But never fear, 'n boer maak 'n plan! I gave the Brat a beer tray and some scissors and voila...Bush Dominoes! lol

Image

Our dinner...lamb chops, boerewors, potato salad and a green salad. O:V

Image

I couldn't resist sneaking a pic of our French neighbours' slightly less exciting dinner!

Image

Homemade "Amarula"!

Image

Even the locals approved!

Image

And that was the end of our first day...no cats or dogs, but we were just so happy to be back in the bush! :-0

I was excited to find my first lifer of the trip - a Squacco Heron.
They are quite pretty to look at, too with their long "hair" lol
The Brat and I battled to get any good pics as he didn't keep still for a second!
Sorry, Brat, mum won this round. ^Q^

But in return I love your arty sunset siloutte shot.
I gave the Brat a beer tray and some scissors and voila...Bush Dominoes!
And very neat tokens too. O:V

The monitor wasn't too big...maybe about 40cm? -O- Dominoes is a good way to pass the time between morning and afternoon drives. ;-)
