Geeezz ,talk of battle scar!!

Some of these horns seem very porrous in fact
decayed!! Any reason for this?

This is what I could find....

The bull in particular makes a regular habit of rubbing and polishing his horns and boss on trees.
The purpose of this may be to prevent flies from laying eggs in the cracks of its horns.
Eggs laid in the horns eventually hatch into larva and start boring through the keratin layers causing significant damage to the buffalo’s horns.

Leachy also posted a pic showing hornets nests in the horns of a buff skull at Mlondozi - not the same as the flies - but it does show how porreus the horns are.

Maybe there is another reason..

Through out all pictures posted thusfar there is a remarkable
difference in the snout of many of these animals. Different
species or maybe just different terrain?? Some of these animals
still seem very young but pretty much run down and wrecked.

Would this be classed as a Buff with a "bad hair day"?

I had such a good laugh with your 'bad hair day' Sproky, yet felt sorry for the buff without protection...

Harry's buff at least still has half to defend himself with.
