It took also for us a couple of trips until we noticed them but now we do see they regularly at least once \O - They are not easy to capture ;-)

We still stayed quite a while at Matjulu but as it got quiet birdwise we carried on and unfortunately when Timon had the camera ready that brown snake eagle was about to take off

Image

but to our luck we detected a group of four rhinos after we did not find any rhino last year

Image

indeed it was a strange sighting seeing them dehorned

Image

but when same is protecting them a more than good solution.

Image

Overall it got quiet and it was already extreme hot although it was still early morning – Along the tar road we stopped for a nicely posing birdie

Image

and for a couple of yellow billed hornbills

Image

and then we already turned into the road leading us to Renosterpan where we soon noticed a muddy warthog

Image

and in one of the bushes a lovely steppe buzzard who far too soon took off.

Image

Lots of white faced ducks were around as well and it looked as if they had an extensive chat

luckily for us the warthog did not run away as they can sometimes be a bit shy

Image

but this one was even willing to take a mud bath in a smaller wallow.

Image

At least there was a bit activity to be watched either from the white faced ducks

Image

or from the warthog

Image

Image

or from both together.

Image

After the Egyptian geese kept in the beginning a bit hidden now they even presented their offspring and after a while which we spent there all alone we carried on and enjoyed our short break at Afsaal.

Image

We travelled northwards and stopped for this elephant bull

Image

and at these boulders where Timon soon detected first one klipspringer

Image

but in the background a bit hidden another one appeared.

Image

to be continued………….
