A ground squirrel was peeping out of it's burrow on our way back to camp
Back at camp, it was time for a fry up for brunch

Our afternoon drive up to Melkvlei was relatively unremarkable
The highlights of the drive was spotting this tawny eagle
And a black backed jackal taking in the late afternoon sunshine.
A gemsbok joined us for our evening sundowners back in camp.

Tuesday 27 April 2021
We left camp at sunrise had hadn’t gone 2km before we saw movement up on the calcrete ridge to our right as we headed north towards Kij Kij
A spotted hyena clan were returning home after a night out on the prowl
Up on the ridge, and then another on the way home, up and over the ridge
Great start to the morning
As was the sunrise which followed
Kij Kij was quiet, so we carried on.....

We were about 4km south of Melkvlei when Debbie said, “What is that springbok looking at?”
“A leopard up on the far ridge,” I said, after spotting some movement
The leopard was walking along the ridge and after a while settled down on a rock.
After about 20 minutes we had a few other cars with us at the sighting and the leopard got up
To our delight, she came directly towards the road, and us.
