Handsome bokkie \O

I suppose that the leopard cub made it up to the impala, even if it looks a bit O-/ Nice sigting ^Q^ ^Q^

The curl on top of the head of the duiker makes it look so cute [Luv]
Yep the giraffe drinking was a highlight... not often they feel comfortable enough with cars around \O

And a very lucky leppie sighting with cub, so your trip already made! O/\

I love the giraffe drinking and the small antelope! [O]
Thanks RP. Yip the trip was made quite quickly this time ;-)

Always an event to watch the Giraffe drink \O

Lovely photos of the little buck ^Q^
Smallest leopard we've seen so far so that was very cool O:V
Mel wrote: Sat Jul 24, 2021 8:22 am WOW, that giraffe is really crisp. Same goes for the duiker. Very nice photos :-0

Love the steenbok. Such cute little critters.

But of course... that leopard sighting beats them all. Two for the price of one - very O:V O:V O:V
I'm also a fan of steenbok! But yeah leopard trumps them all lol

Wednesday July 7th

The next morning everyone was keen to see if the leopards might still be around so we went directly down in that direction. We were treated to a fantastic sunrise <sun>

Image

It was still pretty dark as we arrived at the leopard tree, but amazingly they were still there O\/

Image

The cub was only visible for a second before heading down the tree, leaving mom to continue finishing off what little was left of the impala

Image

After a few minutes we were lucky to have the cub climb back up the tree O/\ O/\

Image

Image

It then settled in a branch with a nice clear view ^Q^

Image

The night before must have been exhausting as the little one seemed very tired <zz>

Image

Image

Image

As the sun started to rise we were treated to some nice dappled light on the cub O:V

Wednesday July 7th contd...

Mom was still busy with the impala and we could hear the crunching of teeth on bones from where we were watching. The youngster seemed to look at her as if to say ‘will there be anything left for me?’ -O-

Some last pics of the cub before we decided to continue on our morning drive… what a great start it had been O/\ O/\

Wednesday July 7th contd...

We continued south along the H3 from the leopards with plans of stopping at Afsaal for some brekkie, but it was far too cold and early so we continued with some loops in the south to allow the morning to warm up first. The H3 was quiet except for a hyena warming up at the side of the road O:V

Image

We meandered along the S118, S114, S25 and up the S119 before taking the H2-2 back up to Afsaal. We found a big waterbuck who posed nicely

Image

Just before Gardenia hide we spotted a pride of lions in the riverbed with very full tummies

Image

Image

Image

The lions were getting flat very quickly. Other sightings on the way back to Afsaal included some of the regulars

Image

Image

Image

As we approached Afsaal there was a bit of a bunch of cars so we popped along to investigate what turned out to be a couple of cheetah. They spent a few minutes looking around and then flopped in the long grass with virtually no visibility of them, so we were lucky with the timing. O/\ O/\

At Afsaal, breakfast was finally served after a very productive morning drive \O
