The bee-eaters are always a nice splash of colour!

Nice to see Knob-billed ducks...not seen that often.

For us the knob-billed ducks are indeed as well rare so always a pleasure when they do come across

Lots of impalas were on their way for their afternoon drink into the direction of the Crocodile river
and so we could capture some of these beauties in the evening light
and also waterbucks joined them.
Unfortunately it was a quiet evening and as nothing else could be discovered we had to turn around as it was about time already. On the private road to the camp we stopped for a beautiful bateleur

[/URL]
and also noticed another Wahlberg eagle
before it was time for another wonderful braai and far too soon our stay in this quiet camp was already nearly over. Although it was a hot day it cooled extremely down over night and so we slept quite well.
Thursday, 15. February 2018 – Biyamiti – Skukuza
Explored roads: S139 – S23 – S114 – H1-1 – H1-1 – S65 – S1 – S42 – H4-1 – H1-2 – S83
Today we had to leave this wonderful camp but for sure were still allowed to drive the private road which we did extreme slow in order to enjoy the drive along that road for a final time and especially with such a sunny and bright weather as we also know that road when same is muddy and slippery after some good rains.
We came across a duiker couple which were very cooperative in letting us photograph them as she first eyed us curiously but gladly stayed where she was
and in between we noticed some movement behind a tree trunk who also wanted to know what the fuss was all about.
The duiker husband was only interested in taking breakfast
which looked in form of marulas extreme yummy.

We saw lots of plum coloured starlings on that road and for sure stopped for a couple of shots
as well as for a redbacked shrike female taking a sunbath in the early morning sun.
Timon must have had eagle eyes as he spotted a verraux’s giant eagle owl in the dense tree and after some struggle I also could spot same but as said it was also very difficult to take pictures of same.
Lot of giraffes could as well be spotted
whilst also taking their breakfast and we for sure had a great time in taking some close ups as well.
Great for us was also the meeting with a forktailed drongo as we saw only few of them last year
and always a wonderful sighting is an African hoopoe
first on the ground and later same flew up on a branch which made it easier for us to photograph same.
We stopped for a bateleur in flight,
a glossy starling,
and some European bee eaters.
to be continued……
