The animal is not "misunderstood" it's just ugly and smelly, but does a marvelous job, the one for which nature has put it on earth....... mostly

One of the answers is wrong though

Many people do not know that the Hyena is a predator, but think that it is only a scavenger and this together with its looks, especially getting older, and the ways it walks, "laughs", drools and smells do not make it the most beloved creature on earth. They are marvelous mothers and they have a very strict order within the group, which seems to work perfectly.

It is an admirable animal, but all the same, it will never be my favourite
