Wow, so much going on! Lovely pics of the lions! Which bridge was this?

Great lion sighting A Good looking female and an old scarred male, but in nature the beauty is no real attraction

An old lion indeed...tail gone...

But not to old to look after the girls and to bite into a good steak

This was as I call it on the Biyamiti causeway on the S25 close to the turn off into the S139 - The Bridge had been demoliged after the floods and was closed for a long time but gladly is open now quite a couple of years again

Indeed and I guess this is what Nature is making so beautiful

A pity was that it was already after 18.00 o’clock and consequently not much time left



to observe him and on top it was difficult to park the car right as it was extreme prone but Timon tried to make the best out of it to stand fairly upright.



We only saw a leg of the buffalo but the kill must have been relatively fresh as we did no smell anything although it was a hot day





and meanwhile also a lot of vultures had gang together and started to wait in several trees close to the kill.



He from time to time looked up to check the vultures out but he hid his kill perfectly under a dense bush



and unfortunately it was now also time for us as well as the other car to leave him in order to make it in time back to camp. We let the other car pass and followed them slowly and close to camp we overhauled them as they stopped and told us that we just missed a leopard who just crossed the road......although we looked a bit around to check out a movement we did not see anything and so we had no other choice than to carry on. We gladly reached the gate still in time and after such an eventful evening and at a location like that the braai was amazing and tasted even better than anywhere else.

Wednesday, 14. February 2018- Biyamiti

Explored roads: S139 – S25 – H4-2 – S28 – H4-2 – S82 – S130 – S25 – S108 – S139 – S25

Needless to say that it was clear into which direction we drove and on top this is the direction we always drive when staying in Biyamiti but for sure we enjoyed the beautiful morning



and stopped for a couple of morning impressions and for a brown snake eagle



but then we were again at the place where we yesterday evening spotted the lion and to our delight he was still there



and guarded his kill against



them!



Meanwhile even more vultures than the evening before could be seen in the trees

and the car with which we drove yesterday evening back to camp was already standing at this sighting although we left camp in time and not earlier than the allowed time but they must have already left far earlier. Anyway he still had chosen a place which was difficult to watch as we had to watch around a dense bush



but gladly from time to time he could be seen rather good between the leaves of the bush



illuminated by the first sunlight – What a beautiful morning in the bush and same could not even start better.



His belly was still extreme full



and meanwhile more and more cars arrived and he started to look excitedly around



and after we already spent a wonderful peaceful and quiet hour at that sighting whilst he finally settled down and far too many cars for our liking were now driving forward and backward with running engines



we left not without taking more shots for the patient scavengers who still were waiting for their time to come.



With all the cars standing at the lion sighting we nearly had the S25 all to ourselves and could stop for impalas



and a family of warthogs out of which the piglets were extreme hungry.



We simply enjoyed the peaceful ride along that road and noticed another tawny



and impalas out of which this boy enjoyed the oxpeckers works – What a pure bliss -





before we approx. one kilometre before Crocodile Bridge camp on the H4-2 got stuck again in a traffic jam.....

Looks like a lovely morning

Strange the lion being all alone there, Pumbaa...

Anyway, what interesting shots through the leaves...the males look at you differently to the way the females do!

I can imagine all the cars!

Does one open the camp gate oneself there?

What a great lion sighting!! And colours in the morning were lovely!
