Unfortunately not - Same is extreme close on the S28 to the crocodile river so on the other side of the river there is farming I guess :O^

I already knew that his road is having potential but when the grass is too high and the bushes too thick after heavy summer rains you can travel that road a thousand times and only get limited views or sightings without seeing any animal lying on the ground but this year without the grass everything was different....however, I still prefer to see high grass on that road in February!

We carried on only to stop a bit later close to Mac as there a group of lazy hyaenas had positioned themselves that way

Image

that each of them had an eye into another direction – Some looked sleepy

Image

and other had chosen a very uncomfortable looking way to rest.

Image

At least we were happy to see them that relaxed and lazy as they are normally always on the run.

Image

Not far we spotted a pair of ostriches also a sighting that we never had that far South ever before.

Image

Image

As it was today far cooler and cloudier than the previous day we spotted a lot of general game as well – We stopped for the ever present impalas

Image

and then we had a very rare sighting this year – it started to rain slightly and a couple of raindrops fell down steadily – a male kudu was feeding on something which tasted obviously extreme yummy.

Image

He was all alone but was happily munching away nearly the whole time we watched him

Image

and not far I yield: “Stop - Lion” again – A lioness was lying on a small sandhill –

WoW the S28 meant it well today with us or was it a farewell gift, as this was already our last drive on that road for this year? Whatever, Timon once again positioned the car and the cameras started to click away

Image

We supposed that this must have been a lioness out of the large pride we already saw yesterday nearly at the same spot

Image

At first sight we only saw this one and she eyed us extreme suspiciously. For a long time we were the only car at that sighting and normally there is quite a steady traffic on that road but at that later time of the morning most of the cars came through already.

Image

This must have been an amazing spot for her although it looked after a while not that comfortable anymore.

Image

After quite a while a second car joined us and after a further while she started to get agitated

Image

and walked a bit further away and positioned herself under a small bush nearly invisible

Image

this as well might be up to the point that the rain drops got a bit more and she was a bit hydrophobic that day

Image

but now we spotted a smaller lion as well but also same started to walk off.

Image

Image

to be continued....
