,..once sold, no longer youre's,..though the income will be beneficial!!

In this whole massive, magical logistical exercise of relocating,
will there any transparency, so as to monitor their well being,..

Now please no smokescreen stuff and secrecy attitude insofar to
"protect these animals",....

I find this kind of manuevre so dubious and ill conceived, I am afraid
I cannot justify this practice!!!

If ever Sanparks have a right to justifying a gene pool, and a safe haven,
then why sell these animals???,....

Are we selling away our problems and hopefully some idiot will be doing
a sperm count somewhere down the line??>?? only too buy it back later!!!

As simple as may seem, but there is mr. rhino out there, cast away, looking
for let alone a roof but some security too,.. a high risk,.

The old landlord kicked him out for being a pest yet the new landlord takes
him up with open arms, for the poor dweller needs a place, a safe haven,..
a roof.

Oh my goodness, Sanparks, what is your mission in life?????
Self sustenance or perhaps just animal substenance??

We have been labelled SANParks-bashers for 3 years now, but they are bashing themselves?

Facts speak!

But it is encouraging that SP Board head is now his own spokesperson at last...shows heat is on! X#X

Tourism Update: No rhinos will be sold into hunting – SANParks
Chris Vick, Spokesperson for the SANParks board, told Tourism Update that SANParks would likely sell between 350 and 400 rhino a year. The figure will be on an annual census that SANParks will conduct in the Kruger.

In August, SANParks suspended a SANParks executive relating to irregular procedures that were followed with the sale of the rhinos. According to reports, this included the sale of 260 rhino to hunting safari companies, namely Winterhoek Safaris, Chapunga Safaris and Steyn Safaris.

However, the SANParks Board recently cancelled the planned sale because proper governance procedures were not followed. A disciplinary process is under way and is due to be completed in mid-November, said Vick.

“We have ironed out these issues and the sale will be fully compliant with our own supply chain processes and our conservation mandate,” Dlamini said. “Planning is already well under way for the first auction of rhinos, which will take place later this year.”

Dlamini emphasised that SANParks would strictly regulate prospective purchasers, and require them to sign agreements to ensure relocated animals contributed to the conservation of the species and the growth of the rhino population as a whole. "These agreements will be linked to management plans with clear objectives and targets for the growth of populations that are being introduced in new range areas,” he said.

According to Vick, no rhinos would be sold for hunting. “It is a strict requirement that they are to be sold for conservation purposes, to build the meta-population of rhinos across the country.” He explained that while it was possible that people who ran game farms that offered hunting might purchase rhino, these rhino could not be used for hunting. “It is a strict precondition that rhinos that are bought from SANParks through this process must be kept for conservation purposes and are not to be used for hunting.”

SANParks is finalising provisions for the sale and will call for offers to purchase in a series of newspaper advertisements that will appear in the next few weeks. The first stage of the relocation, which involved moving selected rhino from high-density areas into bomas, had started, said Vick.

How do I need to read this,......... getting aggro in "deed",..and then you go as far as saying,

SanParks to sell rhinos to private owners in bid to end poaching
Wednesday 1 April 2015 19:39
SABC

Despite the scourge of rhino poaching, SanPark’s annual revenue will for the first time breach the R1billion mark.

A bitter sweet record Tourism has grown by almost 12%, but 120 Rhinos have already been poached in 2015 most in the Kruger National Park. In 2015 a record of 1,215 were killed for their horns. Poaching has increased during the tenure of the outgoing SanPark's board.

The board says more combating measures have been put in place. They include the translocation programme and the issuing of a tender for the sale of white rhino to private land owners.

SanPark's Board chairperson Kuseni Dlamini says: "The tender process is at the adjudication stage of awarding for the successful bidders. We were also able to purchase additional properties to the value of R32 billion towards the creation of rhino strongholds that will allow the total rhino population to continue growing."

SanParks says it finds solace in the fact that more people are visiting its facilities. About R5 million people visited the parks in the past 12 months.

Dlamini says last year was the worst in the history of rhino poaching as more than one thousand animals were killed. This year alone over one hundred cases of rhino poaching have been recorded. Dlamini says the board using the anti-rhino poaching strategy relocated some animals to saver places.

Kuseni Dlamini explains, "In October last year the strategy rhino translocation programme was launched.....recently as 19 March of this year a new helicopter donated by the Howard G Buffet Foundation was launched including the evaluation of unmanned aerial vehicle for use in fight against rhino poaching in the KNP.."

Dlamini who served two terms as the chair of the outgoing SanPark board says the new appointed board is inheriting an entity that is financially viable. He says Rhino poaching will remain a challenge and with the assistance of the community and non government organisation the increasing killing of the protected animal can be won.

That's what they continue to say and the poached animals are growing every day 0*\

When rhinos are relocated will they still be living in big wild territories?
Having sold the animals they are gone!! What is going to happen in the wretched case, that Kruger runs low on Rhinos and need to fill up?

There we go again money, money, money 0= Why can't they move them to a secure place owned by Sanparks??

The good news that decline is not equally spread across the @SANParksKNP - in the IPZ we have seen a 3% increase in the population
