I know that about the steenbok and this is always fascinating me - That is the reason why there are always so many ellies to be found they know the best water quality

A bushbuck could also be seen as well as buffaloes and more elephants.





An elephant mum came down the steep escarpment with her young calf



and also another one was having an itch.





Suddenly we heard a frantically trumpeting from a left behind elephant teenager who noticed that mum had already carried on and he now started to overtake them.

With waving ears he finally managed that mum and the smaller one who just climbed down to the riverbed stopped and waited for him



only after complaining later heavily why they did now wait.



It was so much to look at and whilst already starting the braai we observed all the animals in the riverbed as it got far too dark and although it was still hot but with all windows all open in the bungalow it became a bit bearable during the course of the night and from that point on I also could feel asleep.

Wednesday, 17.02.2016 – Biyamiti

Roads we travelled along that day: S139 – S25 – H4-2 - S28 – S130 – H5 – S108 – S139

When we awoke it was still pitch dark and far cooler then when we went to bed and also when we left camp it was still extreme dark as grey clouds where hiding the sun and consequently no sunrise could be admired today. Originally Timon wanted to turn right when standing in front of the gate but gladly I could asserted myself to turn once again left and to drive the S28 for a very last time during this holiday.

Although must say that the drive along the S25 was disappointingly quiet that early morning as we only could capture one of the plenty grey louries,



a couple of giraffes





and large groups of helmeted guinea fowls running frantically crisscross along the road. Therefore when we stopped shortly at Crocodile Bridge camp we were a bit frustrated because it was so quiet and also a stop at Gesanftombi could not raise our mood as it was still a bit dark to locate anything down in the water. So relatively early we turned again into the S28 and gladly it took not that long until we were forced to stop as a couple of cars were standing at the roadside and suddenly we were in extreme good mood as we spotted a cheetah still a bit far away



but very good visible on a small hill close to the Crocodile river. Same still looked a bit sleepy around but had energy in changing its lying position.



to be continued with the day of the cats or with one of the best days we ever had in the park....
