03 MAY 2015 - DAY 18 - GRAAF REINET TO GARIEP DAM - PART 1/4

On leaving Graaf Reinet it was necessary to take a photo of this magnificent church which dominates the town.

Image

I saw this sign in the toilet of The Ibis Lounge, a restaurant in Nieu Bethesda, which justified our decision to take a 40km detour to pop in at Nieu Bethesda. Originally we were going to go straight on to Middelburg and bypass this fascinating village and we were so pleased we did the detour.

Actually, thinking about, it justified our decision to do as many back roads as possible on our trip.

De Toren dominates the road as one enters Nieu Bethesda.

A few photos showing some of the beauty of this village in autumn colours.

TO BE CONTINUED.

More impressive rock formations, well, at least one more lol De Toren looks fascinating!

And the autumn colours are just beautiful, especially against that wonderfully blue sky. ^Q^

It is just such a pity that one cannot capture the true ambiance on camera. Thanks for the comments Mel. \O

I agree, stf! What you get as a picture is at the best a fond reminder of what you really saw.
