Lis has me a bit on the back foot here!
Good research, but apparently PRIOR to 1980, there was a strong resident sable population at Pafuri between the Luvhuvhu and Limpopo Rivers...estimated at up to 120!
Appears in old CUSTOS reports, and old park maps!
The sighting got better and better...it was obvious the antelope were going to drink!
The nice thing is so many calves and yearlings! 
I don't think SW quite understood my euphoria, although we had seen sable together before in the South, but she joined the celebration!
Sable often drink with other animals...the above black and white pic is a great microcosm of SA society!
I've auto-corrected some pics...the light really washed colours out!
So we left to creep North! This was one of those days, typically, when you need to reach your destination, but animals just keep pitching!
