Thanks RP... yes the landscape is quite dry like parts of Namibia. Middle of the day light is never the best... you'll see what I mean in due courseRichprins wrote:What lovely light!
Looks a bit like parts of Namibia!
Nice, Peej!

I'm not sure why, but I often find them difficult to photograph

Re: Frost, Fires & Family Time
After driving around Rooiplaat to the area mentioned by the chap at the gate, there was no sign of lions or a kill. We weren't too bothered as we were just really enjoying the scenery. Once down at the camp we checked in at reception and overheard someone explaining where he had seen the lions - the one bit of Rooiplaat which we hadn't driven along Ah well, that decided the evening drive route for us at least
They are busy building new accommodation at MZNP and so I had asked to be given a chalet as far away from any noise as possible. Fortunately they were very helpful with the request and we were given number 4... the numbers go up as you move away from reception. Here are a few shots inside the chalet which although basic certainly serves its purpose
The view from the chalet was as breathtaking as ever
We took a walk around camp to get an idea of where the work was taking place, and there are new units going up from opposite number 8 onwards. I think if anyone else has a trip booked, then try and aim for a chalet no higher than number 6. We weren't desperately bothered by much noise where we were, but it was noticeable at times. We did feel a bit sorry for the people staying opposite all the work.
This is where the site office is - just to the right when you go up to the swimming pool.
Here are some of the building sites
The one noise which was probably most noticeable on the Friday was the yellow digger in this pic... when in reverse it had that annoying beep-beep safety noise. Incidentally, why are all diggers yellow?
After getting ourselves unpacked and sorted in the chalet, the kids got a fire ready for our return after the evening drive
I think they were both as excited as me to see what the evening drive would hold
TBC

Re: Frost, Fires & Family Time
The units are spacious for a 4 bed unit
I just wish they could build some sort of roof over the patio area because every time we were there it rained and I struggled to braai
Oh that noise from the construction could be horrible if one just wants to relax at camp during the day
That yellow thing is called a TLB. All heavy equipment in construction are normally yellow so it stands out for a safety point of view.

Nice kitchen, but there is no way that you can eat inside, with that low table
