We will be in Imfolozi, Cape Vidal and Mkuze between 18-28 April 2014. Should we take Malaria Prophylactic Tablets.
Bushcraft, do you take anti malaria tablets when visiting iMfolozi during the rainy season?

Duke, I suggest that you and all who accompany you take Prophylactics. Northern Natal is a Malaria Area. Malaria is a terrible disease that kills many people every year so please do not take a chance.

Malaria is quite common where malaria is prevalent...
Perhaps, instead of dealing with outbreaks, preventative measures should be discussed here. ?

Seems like stating the flaming obvious is also prevalent here.

Indeed, obvious, but we don't want to scare away prospective tourists either. So always good to provide prevention info too.

There is an ABCD for prevention of malaria. This is:
Awareness of risk of malaria.
Bite prevention.
Antimalarial medication - Chemoprophylaxis (taking antimalarial medication exactly as prescribed).
Prompt Diagnosis and treatment.

Mosquitos out again here, and a malaria death recently, so back to being careful, especially after a recent Kruger trip!
Sounds flippant, but just noticed the mozzies now.
Different with drought, maybe?

Didn't notice any Mozzies on our trip, even some campers I befriended also remarked the absence of Mozzies.
