Nan is really feeling bad about this KTP thing, Mel
I might be wrong, but wasn't she there for ages last year and the rest of us were at home?

04/10/2013 Twee Rivieren to Kalahari Tented Camp
We had arrived in Upinton the day before but too late to make it to the park on the same day. So after an overnight stop, we did our shopping fairly early morning and off to the park it was. We arrived at the gate at 12.30 pm and made for the petrol station to fuel up and to deflate the tyres. While I had the old SO occupied I ventured to find Jannie to say hi. Unfortunately, he was at lunchbreak, so I scampered through the camp, in order to find me the loo and also to inspect the new fast food outlet at TR. Found both. Then the old SO found me again and together we found Jannie who was back from lunch by now.
Jannie and his wife Vanessa became proud parents again a couple of months ago. Congratulations on your baby girl, Jan and Vanessa and also to Stefan for being the big boy now.
We eventually had to say goodbye and I told Jannie that we were about to find us some lions now to which he replied that we would be more likely to find cheetah instead as they were everywhere with the springbok lambing season having started extremely early this year. Never believed in it as the cheetahs hadn't been particularly forthcoming to us ever since the cheetah project was finished.
About a kilometre into the park, our first chick:
Another two kilos up the road, our first cat (not on the walk yet):
A cheetah

Was Jannie right after all? But how was I supposed to find out... I thought, I had seen it all already just one a stretch of 3 kilometres.

After having managed the dune road that links TR with the Auob riverbed, we found our next chick:
I think, you might already get the notion of what chicks are in this TT

I'll stretch the expression even further.
Between Houmoed and Monroe, more chicks or cats - take your pick.
Also not on the walk

But our cheetah count had accelerated to 5 within 1.5 hours of entering the game area.
And, btw, I believe this to be Gertie and her almost grown cubs. There will be more stories later in this TT.

At Auchterlonie two more chicks, this time in form of a pair of tawny eagles:
We had hardly started the car again, when the cattle egret chick got on our way:
And the cattle wasn't far either:
