Love your picture Flutterby.... very rare shot.

Shooting in harsh late morning summer light really is hard on a cameras metering system. In Kruger I am out well before sunrise but at Addo they only let you in after 07h00 when the sun is high in the sky... I was with the PE Camera club at Addo yesterday and there wasnta cloud in the sky and I met up with Addo's largest ellie...Valli Moosa who was brought in from Kruger years ago to boost the gene pool so I switched over to Manual Mode from Aperture Priority (AV) and set the camera up as follows: Matrix Metering, 1/2500th Sec S Speed, F4 on the 500 lens, under exposure 0.3 ofa stop (Should have rather gone with plus 0.3 of a stop, VR off (Not needed as Shutter speed over 500th sec) Active Digital Lighting set at 'High' (2nd highest setting to get some detail) and ISO on Auto and the camera chose 220 ISO

Another Pic of the same Ellie...Trying to decide which would be best for a lodge foyer ??

These pic's were taken at Monte Ca-sino Bird Park and not in the 'wild' yet I believe that these parks serve a purpose.

I learnt so much the day of my visit - things that are general knowledge to most of you

The black feathers of the Blue Crane is not it's tail, but part of it's wings.... I didn't know THAT...

To have the Eagle owl sweeping cm's over my head without a single sound was magnificant
