why did you catch these Sharks... for eating... or "only" for sport

Only for sport nan. BC catches them takes a few pics and then puts them back. They swim off and carry on their watery lives.

I realise that fishing isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s something that I have done since I could hold a fishing rod and it’s not “hook and cook” nan.

On this day Supernova was visiting from JHB and I had taken him for a fish in the morning where he landed his first 30kg plus sandy, so the mission was to take the entire clan down for an afternoon throw.

Things were rather quiet though and word had spread about that fact that there had been a few pulls in the morning, so the gang was out, but luckily the fish found my bait and the game was on again.

I tried to give this one to Supernova, but the line was disappearing, so Supernova told me to continue.

After half an hour the fish had taken about 500m of line and moved into a position where I could get to the beach as landing a fish of this size on the rocks is close to impossible and it hurts the fish also.

Eventually after about an hour and a bit the honeycomb was landed

I realised too that
not my cup of tea ... I would also like see a big fish, like shark, magnificent fish
I'm open for all... if no damage happens to a beast


even a Stingray ... superb
but you can touch to put again in the water, they are electric

They aren’t “electric”

There’s a marble electric ray, which isn’t round and looks more like a sand shark, but only much smaller (I have never seen one bigger than 6kg) and then the electric eel.

The honeycomb, brown, blue, diamond, ribbon tail, etc skates which amount to 98% of the skates caught in SA aren’t electric

It’s just a pitch in the movies You can hold the tail if you like as per below (caught at Umkomaas ledges in 2011)
