If I had not been to KTP, I would have gone immediately after reading your description.

In KNP, the crowds have never been a problem for me, maybe because I always go in the summer when the school holidays have finished. I have had days without meeting more than a few cars far apart, lion sightings all to myself, waterhole watching with no other vehicle in sight, etc.
Squirrels
Marvellous "exhibition" of the bee-eaters in very special attitudes

and the secretary birds "out to dry" nonetheless!
Giraffes in knots

What captures again, Ex!
And a mention of Brewer's!
Never knew those bee-eaters were there in the desert...

What behaviour pics!
And the juvenile naughtiness...

Can an animal be BOTH cute and ugly?

Sure! Depends on who is talking, the heart or the brain
I agree on the steenbokkie

not on the mantid. Interesting not cute

but "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
It's a pity there wasn't a Marabou stork around
Nice tawny/snake sequence

Lovely pics, Ex!
Love the ostriches, and of course the macro photos!
I am still astounded there are warthogs there in the desert!

It's only semi-desert (arid savanna) and they are not all over the place
