I think that amazing to manage to arrange a get together after not having seen each other for such a long time!
Interesting houses as well, grass roof and all.
Eerie but very beautiful sunset!

01 MAY 2015 - DAY 16 - A WINDY WILLOWS WALKABOUT - PART 1/1
Woke up to a clear and calm day but there was a slight chilly breeze blowing but at least the sun was shining.

However, it was not long before the breeze became a strong South Westerly wind.

We decided to stay in the resort and just walk around and see what was going on.
The main tidal pool.

The second tidal pool.

This inquisitive yellow mongoose checked us out as we walked around the caravan park.

An overall view of the resort.

A cormorant waiting patiently for the right moment.

A hermit crab in a rock pool scurries for shelter as I loom over him to get a photo.

What a pity, yet again it was too cold and windy to swim.
END OF DAY 16.

The tidal pools are great at Willows... it is kind of on the colder side of the bay and the water has been chilly for a good few weeks now (doesn't stop our kids though
).
Nice you got out to grass roof to meet up with your friend! Did you head just down the road to Sardinia bay to see how much the dunes have shifted?

You are so right Lisbeth and Joan and I were looking forward to swimming there but I think I left it too late.Lisbeth wrote:The tidal pools are very nice. Nice for kids
We loved those tidal pools as kids in the 1950's and 1960's and also , like your kids, the cold weather did not deter us from swimming but now the bones seem to feel the cold more than then.PJL wrote:The tidal pools are great at Willows... it is kind of on the colder side of the bay and the water has been chilly for a good few weeks now (doesn't stop our kids though ). No we did not manage to get to Sardinia Bay - I forgot that you mentioned it to us.

02 MAY 2015 - DAY 17 - WILLOWS TO GRAAF REINET - PART 1/3
Our first stop after leaving Willows at the bottom of Van Stadens Pass. Bridges again.
The old bridge.
The new bridge seen from the old bridge.

We saw hundreds of these wind turbines in the Humansdorp area.

The old disused narrow guage railway bridge near Twee Rivieren.

Please help identify this raptor.
