Are there leopard? Maybe not, or PJL would have seen one? -O-

Yes there are apparently still leopard around but very seldom seen. More likely is a sighting of the cheetah... they broke into the park about 6 months ago and haven't been caught since =O: =O:

As we arrived at 38 we saw a couple of cars parked on the loop road a few metres from the main road. On enquiring one gent told us that they had seen a male lion kill a warthog 15 minutes ago and then tale it under a bush and out of sight.
Sorry... I should have given exact time of day as well as position O** O** =O: =O: =O:

It's a shame that you missed them but it's a game of luck on the timing with Addo lions - at least you got to see Norman the day before. I know of people who have been regularly coming to the park a few times a year since lion were re-introduced and they still haven't seen them

Those shots of the double-collared sunbird are stunning ^Q^ ^Q^ O/\ O/\

Shame that you missed the lions that day, but I still think that Addo treated you really well!

Addo was indeed very good to us. Thought the aloe bridge was rather photogenic.

Yip Mel, Addo was great and it is on our "TO DO" list for the future.

Hi B.C. Not sure if you have been to Addo but if not please put it on your list to visit and ask PJL to meet you there. Its like having your own personal guide.

30 APRIL 2015 - DAY 15 - BLUSTERY PORT ELIZABETH DAY - PART 1/1

Woke up to a cold and very windy morning, forecast mentioned gale force winds up to 70 kph.

Image

Today was to prove to be a very emotional day for me as I had arranged to meet a very good friend I had had whilst living in P.E. in the 1950's and early 1960's. It worked that I had not seen him for 54 years. It is a very long story how I managed to get hold of him but I do not want to bore you with that.

We arranged to meet at The Grass Roof restaurant which actually has grass growing on the roof.

Image

We did not recognise one another and only got to meet when he phoned to ask where I was and we almost bumped into one another while trying to explain where we were standing.

Image

We drove around for a while looking at the house we used to live in, finding some of the old places we used to play and eventually went down to the Marine Drive to get some photos of the wild sea.

At sunset the clouds seemed to clear but the wind was still blowing a gale.

END OF DAY 15.
