The shape of the salt pans reminds me of something, but I don't know what it really is…
But either way, looks funnily interesting.
The fifth pic looks a bit Dutch somehow
Great views from the top and if the first castle is Pelopi, I like that one a lot. Nice shot

It looks like a more than beautiful city, Flutterby,
and you captured very well the Italian atmosphere

Good gravy! Look at that castle on the mountain there!
A kite flying school? These Eyeties have too much time on their hands...
I like the natural salt facility...natural everything food-wise their!
That mountain town was beautiful!

Yes, the food is all fresh and natural!

August is thee month of summer holiday in Italy, RP
Looks a bit like the salt pans in the south of Portugal
The Pepoli castle has been restored in a way, that it looks as if it was built yesterday
Lovely views
My father in law was born in Trapani, but left for Liguria when he was very, very young.
Yes, that castle does look brand new!

SO's aunt is also from Trapani.

The salt pans were very interesting. The windmills are called Dutch windmills.

The views from Erice were stunning.

We headed down the mountain from Erice to Trapani for dinner.
Full moon over Trapani.

We stopped at a wine bar where we got 2 glasses of wine for €4.00!! What a bargain!

You then take cushions that are stacked at the door and go and sit on the pavement outside to enjoy your wine!!

For dinner, SO's cousin had booked a table at Trapani's most famous pizzeria, Calvino Pizzeria. The earliest booking we could get was 10.30pm but it was so busy we only got in after 11pm!!

In the early 20th century it used to be a brothel, and the tables are arranged in the former rooms of the brothel with very spartan furnishings .... paper tablecloths and plastic cups. There are peepholes dotted along the walls of the rooms.

The pizza arrives at the table cut into squares ...because apparently history teaches that not all people are reliable with a knife!
The pizza was very good!

Lovely moon shot!
After my bedtime, that too!
And why do they cut it in squares...really?
Brothel with peepholes!

We got used to eating so late in Sicily!

And no, we didn't normally have breakfast.

Drinking in public is allowed there...the Brat and his friends sometimes go to the piazza with a bottle of wine, and sit on the church steps to watch the comings and goings...and it's all very civilised!

Not sure why the pizza was cut into squares, but it did make is easy to eat!
