Uhuj this area was discussed for it's eco value,.
This vacant land space always captivated my interest as to
why such a large area was never exploited!!
Well my friend Uhu my concerns were answered just recently.
That area be the most vulnerable breeding ground for many species,
set aside almost holistic in the sense,.. It will be a matter of time!!!!

The breeding grounds!!!

No I'm not Lisbeth! I am quite aware of the difference. :-) . I merely wanted some information and gave a little background to the questions by doing what someone else on this forum did and referring to the original discussion on the SANParks site. My questions have not all been answered however. Thanks HE for the comment about the breeding grounds; as this area must be, at present almost a wilderness area, that is pertinent. RP you are saying that this road will in all probability be used as a cross-Kruger crossing to Moz - does this mean that taxis are likely to use it? (as I said earlier I don't know the area so I'm not sure what would transpire locally if this route were to be opened). So the route will use part of the Red-Rocks loop and it will be tarred in this region? No-one knows if the picnic site is going to be a locally-run concession area? I recognise that I seem weird wanting all these answers now, but it helps me to focus and care about what is happening. I'm not intending to register objections when I register as an IAP, but I want to have clear in my mind the reason for doing so.

Hey, ubhejane, lots of official documents on this thread further back. You don't seem weird! X#X

More worried about Moz trucks and what not eventually, as this is part of a big economic development with a tarred road outside coming from Giyani... 0' ``

But ja, it will at first be taxis and decrepit bakkies tired of doing the long route via Pafuri and Punda gates.

Uhjane, you stand proud in your mission for understanding, however
you will realize that often this site will be used as a soundboard to
better understanding. Uhjane we are the lobbying group against abuse
of heritage sites. You will hopefully understand our sensitivity, for others
are lurking!!

Anything within a "hub" will be for the benefit of the adjacent communities as per SANParks policy, so most likely there are locals to operate a shop for the picnic site -O-

The road outside will be upgraded, too in order to provide comfortable access for visitors.

Thanks for the helpful replies. Yes HE I do understand that. Rest assured, I am not a lurker in the sense that you mean, although I admit to lurking around in this site without doing much posting! RP that is a good point about the Moz trucks. Do you seriously think that they would be permitted to go through? That way lies insanity as far as any kind of sustainable ecology goes. I've read the docs. But I wanted the take of people who will read into the heart of them and see the long-term effects, especially when there may be many with a better knowledge of the area than I. Anyway Lisbeth you can add me to the list of those that have applied for registration as an I&AP.

Ja, ubhejane...it is election year, and the outer and inner tar roads will be incredibly expensive, as said before, but fine promises to make in a hotly politically contested area of Limpopo Province.

There is no reason for a tar road inside Kruger, really, given tourist visitor numbers in the far North, and existing tar access outside for paying tourists, unless for mass commercial transit in the long term. It will probably fizzle out.... O**

Hmmmnn. Even if there is no tar road, the mere fact that there will be another road; it will be through what is currently a fairly pristine area; it is set to link to the red Rocks road; it will probably bring in a whole lot of trans-Kruger vehicles with attendant speeding which could lead to all sorts of deaths; is not, to my mind, a Good Thing. Thanks Lisbeth, I hope you get many more people registering.
