I was surprised to see them Alf... as I'm sure you know, they have tracking collars so the guides will often stick the lion markers on the sightings board if the GPS read-outs shows that they are miles away up in the north of the park as was the case earlier in our visit. We were stoked they came back so quickly \O

Let's continue with the evening drive along Umgeni... for once some eland didn't run away at first sight O/\

Image

As Mel said, Umgeni does get a bit more "interesting" as you start to climb. These pics don't really do justice in showing how steep it gets or the size of some of the rocks and holes around in places O**
But we had a lot of fun bouncing around on our way up these sections \O

Image

Image

Oh and of course there was another aardwolf. This one behaved like a "normal" aardwolf - it quickly got up and ran off so just a proof pic lol

Image

Some more adventurous sections... O:V

Image

After the difficult sections were over we found a jackal keeping a very close eye on something

Image

Whilst on the other side of the road the zebras complimented the landscape ^Q^

Image

Once we arrived at Rooiplaat we drove round to where we had left the lions and were surprised to find no other cars around :-? -O-
There also didn't seem to be much sign of lions either until one finally raised a sleepy head for a brief moment

Image

The other male was flat out, and whilst we were wondering what to do H suddenly spotted some movement far off over the other side of the loop... it was the cheetah youngsters again. I've got no idea how she managed to spot them as they were about a kilometre away
The light was fading and the lions didn't seem to be showing any signs of moving so we decided to go round to try and find the cheetah. They were quite a long way off the road when we finally spotted them, but it was great to see them again even if mom still wasn't around O/\ O/\

Image

Image

Image

Whilst enjoying the cheetah, the sun had set behind us and the sky was lit up in stunning colours O:V

Image

It was time to start heading back to camp. We figured we might just have time to call in at the lions one last time so I wasn't paying too much attention to any other animals on the way round when suddenly S shouted STOP!!
