The kitties were strays and very wary of people, but I think these ones are very well looked after by SO's aunt. That was not a very nice part of the village, the rest was quite nice.

For our last afternoon, we went to Agrigento. On the way, SO's aunt stopped in the village next to Santa Elisabetta, Raffadali, to show us a street with our surname.


Agrigento is on a hillside overlooking the Mediterranean. Looking at it from afar it's not a very attractive city, but once you start walking around there are some very pretty places, and we enjoyed walking around for a couple of hours.


We went to a restaurant in Raffadali for a dinner, which was most enjoyable.

After all Agrigento is a tourist place, so it has to keep up to certain standards. Like all this kind of places avoiding the suburbs is better

"Gueli" is definitely a name with it's roots in Sicily

That's for sure!! Just about every third person we saw in the village had our surname but weren't related!

There are Gueli's all over the world A lot of immigrant were/are Sicilians. It has always been a poor "country".
