Due to the meanwhile prevailing midday heat it was in fact quiet although we drove along the river and obviously a lone elephant bull had mercy with us and we were allowed to photograph same whilst munching.
Due to the lack of any other sightings we already reached Sunset dam and meanwhile we had again a clear blue sky we parked there and looked around and discovered a green shank,
and a really close yellow billed storks resting on its knees
whilst others could be seen farer away whilst hunting.
An enormous number of crocodiles were lying at the waterfront and took a sunbath,
the hippos were loud and some of the crocodiles even found a place to hide under a bush quite close to the parking area.
Now we needed an urgent break at Lower Sabie camp but as it still was a bit too early for check in we drove to the Lower Sabie causeway and looked around there as same is always a lovely spot. The red bishops were plentiful although a bit too far away but we were rewarded with a fish eagle who just had caught a fish and flew by
same soon landed with its catch on a dead fallen tree
looked from right to left and from left to right again and obviously found it there far too uneasy
took off again and now landed in a tree close to the end of the causeway whilst still looking around, however,
finally the fish eagle started to feed and Timon was again in his element in taking pictures from his favourite raptor.
We as well as the fish eagle stayed there quite a while until same
took off again with the remains of its fish and now same disappeared completely out of side.
to be continued…….
