Tamboti

12/04/2016

I had asked for a tent as close to the ablutions as possible and we were given 23. Unfortunately there are lots of trees blocking the view, but it was close to the ablutions. ;-)

We started unpacking, and the cramps started getting worse, so I took some Buscopan and went to lie down, while Mommo and the Brat finished off. The cramps soon wore off and we had a few games of dominoes. As I hadn't eaten anything since lunchtime the day before I was feeling peckish and nibbled on a dry biscuit. Within minutes the cramps were back with a vengeance!! I actually can't remember ever feeling pain like that, and I was seriously thinking about leaving the park to find a doctor!! 0*\ Even though I had already taken the Buscopan, I was desperate and decided to try taking an anti-inflammatory. After about half an hour the pain started to recede and within 45 minutes I was feeling as right as rain, and ready for our afternoon drive!! 0- :-0

We decided to do the S106 loop and back on the H7. The Brat spotted this unusual sight...a duiker lying on an anthill!

A nicely lit ellie. :-)

Apart from impala, wildebeest and zebra we didn't see much else, and so it was back to camp.

Mommo watching his fire. ;-)

Image

We were braaing chicken and I decided to fry some chips. The cramps were still at bay and I was starving! lol

Image

I don't know if it was due to the late rains but we have never seen so many moths in Kruger! :-? We moved the table away from the light but we were still bombarded by them and the Brat was on a mission to destroy them all! O**

Image

Dinner went down very well  and I was keen to have an Amarula but the Brat said NO! :X: :O^ When I took a walk to the ablutions I saw something fly into a nearby tree and saw it was a Scops owl so I quickly went to fetch the camera. Unfortunately I couldn't get a good pic as I was battling to hold the torch and the camera at the same time. :O^

Image

Mommo decided to retire early and the Brat and I settled down to see if any night critters would appear. It wasn't long before we were surrounded...5 genets!!

They even braved the steps up to the tent.

Just as we were about to go to bed 2 honey badgers appeared. :-0

While sitting in the dark we heard a big commotion across the river, with lots of galloping, zebra alarm calls, and we saw a hyena running in the river bed. We are sure we heard a kill!!

Now bored with all the night-life we headed off to bed. lol

Who needs to drive along the H7 and see nothing, when you can sit comfortably having a drink in front of your tent and see a lot of "difficult to see" wildlife O** =O:

What a sad looking duiker, with a ridiculous tuft and the mascara running down the cheeks  lol

Have you ever found out what had caused the cramps?

Wonderful sightings along that way, Flutterby,

so many lions and love the buffaloes in Mazithi dam - Great to see some water there and also wild dogs, duiker and klippies - Also only done the S35 once so we should give same another try O**

Also your dinner guests are fantastic and must say that the moths were also there in masses in February as we never experienced same ever before :ty:

Hopefully meanwhile your stomach returned to normal \O

You're right Lis, we've never spent too much time sitting on the verandah at Tamboti. The duiker looks like a unicorn. lol Not sure what caused the cramps, but I haven't had them again thankfully. -O-
