Saw this Nyala bull in front the reception area at B & D.
Grazing on the plants growing in the empty dam. And then browsing on the shrubs right up against the fence.

As far as I was aware, there are 3 so called sub-populations in the KNP
North of Letaba - naturally occurring
Orpen / Timbavati area - moved into KNP from introductions in the reserves in the west
Along the Sabie - also moved in from introductions in the reserves in the west.
Is this population around B & D something new?

They have been moving steadily down all the major river systems in the South, Dzombs, and the Sabie population has linked up with the Timbavati population via the Nwatswitsontso, IMO!
But still unusual!

There were no Nyala in the South in the eary 1980's ..Then John Varty at Londolozi released a batch in Sabi Sands on his property about 1982 and they prompty moved down the Sand River into Kruger and into the Sabie River Drainage system ..Ja the H7 population came from Ngala in Timbavati ..natural migration

This one was inside Skukuza camp.
Clearly not too worried by the hotel monstrosity which is just on the other side of those bungaloes
