^Q^ ^Q^ I am enjoying this trip, every day we get to see different animals. Love the vulture and the Sandgrouse O:V

And for the athropod enthusiasts out there: I think you captured the Small smooth bont-legged tick,Hyalomma truncatum this time, a new one to the AW community. They go for eland, gemsbok and wildebeest.

That tick is not particularly sympathetic O-/

The grouses ^Q^ ^Q^

The head of the lapet vulture beats even that of the marabou stork....in ugliness lol lol

You did see a lot of honey badgers \O

With your quality pics it is always a treat ^Q^ ^Q^

Alf, Flutts, RP, Sis, and Pumbaa :ty: :ty: 0/0

Mel (yes, the tick kind of concerns me, especially after reading more about it )O-/ - it was on my SO's shirt originally. I had seen one a couple years ago, so took its pic and escorted it back into the wild. The lion pride was at Cubitje-Quap (or however you spell it). The vulture was actually flashing a jackal, which was a bit too curious for its liking. lol The Martial was at the waterhole, as well as another one that liked to just sit in the water endlessly. 0-

Klippies - interesting that the tick is a diff. species. If I may be so lazy :o0ps: - what characteristics make it different than the other one I posted in the AW book, please? Thanks.

The relative quiet, sightings-wise, continued during our stay at Grootkolk.
We did see our only bat-eared foxes of the trip, but mainly the more common denizens, and birds, of course. Even so, this is such a gem of a camp, with its tranquility and remoteness, we immensely enjoyed the 3 days.

Sightings during our stay, beginning with a sunrise:

I find the Starlings have such devious looks on their faces at times, and even have creepy shadows that make them seem more cunning.

A mixed congregation:

We were intently watching a PCG trying to catch birds (it needs to consult with the jackals and caracal as it was sorely inept), when a handsome young lion came strolling up to the car, passed within a foot or two, and visited the waterhole.

Some camp visitors: (there were many others, but nothing extra special)

Even sans animals, I find the scenery in that area so appealing.

Will end with another sunrise that greeted us the last morning of our stay.

Yes, I agree about the starlings and they have an equal behaviour lol \O

Those bat-ear foxes are so special ^Q^ ^Q^

The location of Grootkolk is special, but I do not care much for the accommodation in itself, inside it's "suffocating" IMO.

Handsome young lion ;-)

I love the mixture of birds ^Q^ ^Q^
