Thanks JN, I only just found out that you were also in the southern part of the park that weekend. What a pity, we could have arranged to meet.JustN@ture wrote:Brilliant photo's BT, the bug macros are stunning...great to actually now see what the little critters look like up close, but must say some are rather scary up close like that![]()

Day 2, Sunday 17 November 2013. Ngwenya Lodge, Afternoon Drive.
Not much to see this afternoon. Not far from Croc, a Cheetah was hiding in the grass with a couple of cubs. I managed this picture of Mom but we only got fleeting glimpses of the youngsters.

At Gesantombi, a crocodile was doing the high walk.

By the time we got to Nthahdanyathi hide, the sky was completely overcast and it was getting pretty dark. The only thing that was worth getting in the camera was a Spectacled Weaver which I had to bump the ISO to 1600 to get.

We had some friends from Canada staying with us tonight so we left the Park a bit early. The sky looked ominous and we had a pretty good storm that evening which kept our friends amused!

The Cheetah and resultant traffic jam were still about a kilometre from Croc Bridge.

Brilliant stuff, BT!
Crocs use the wet weather to move to new pans etc..but normally at night! So rare, I think!
That snaring is typical along the border areas...but I think the river is a bit full for them to cross now, so old snares just carry on wasting life...
