It is a very scenic route too, Dzombs! I would also go that way...

But be aware..exactly as leachy says...many of our local drivers can only wait behind a vehicle for about 20 seconds before their brains go into "screensaver mode" and they overtake regardless. 0*\

They can come from in front or behind!

Thanks Rich, I will be mindful of that.

So on the advice of the forum, I went the Schoemans Kloof route.
Going to Kruger it was ok, minimal traffic and a pleasure to drive.

Coming home........ --00--
It was a Saturday and loads of trucks were using the route. At one point I got stuck behind a train of 5 trucks. The front one was litterally doing 20km/h. At the first passing point, the truck behind him decided he had to pass, but he was only doing about 40km/h.
And so on. Instead of them letting a massive queue of cars pass, they were all over taking each other. Or trying to.
Must have added at least 45 mins to my journey.
Anyhow, not much I could have done about it :O^

I have never in my life seen the White River - Numbi road in such perfect condition! O/\ ^Q^ O\/

No roadworks at all, nor potholes!

Image

But beware! Someone got a massive tender for speed bumps, vicious ones, so there is one every kilometre or so once one enters the communities! This is great, except for the fact that they are haphazardly indicated, or not indicated at all! Some have signs, some are painted, some have pedestrian crossing signs, some are made of earth/sand... O-/

So no travelling there in the dark still!

And after 6 years there is a sign indicating the turnoff to Numbi Gate! O/\ O\/ ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^
