Wowzers Dewi... I bet if there was no grit on the T-bones you would have probably thought you imagined the whole thing
It's been a long time since my visits to the nice unfenced camps in Botswana. When the kids are old enough...
Looking forward to hearing more of your trip

God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.

Thanks for your comments Pumbaa, RP (?), PJL, Mel, Lis, Flutt's & Alf.
I'm the artist Lis. The "sketches" of the dogs are photos that I took.
The dogs use the lay of the land within the campsites to funnel prey to a pinch point. On one side of the camp, the Khwai River runs along it's length, with the access road forming a sandwich on the other side of the campsites. The road and river come together fairly close just after the last campsite (the one we were at on the last night), and the dogs push the Impala into a trap, with other pack members waiting for them at the pinch point. Their den is only a short trot up the main Mbabane/Savuti road from the pinch point, so the dogs use this hunting method on an almost daily basis.
We were told to expect the dogs in camp when we arrived, but took this information with a pinch of salt at first!
After the first encounter with them, we all three agreed that no one would believe us. After the second & third encounter, I knew I'd be called a liar. Thanks RP. I just won my bet with the other two.
We drank all the beers after the encounter Alf. We spilled all the ones opened previously in our excitement.

Dijara. Close to the village of Mbabane. Ask for the manager - Andre. Great guy and his team of workers there are true gems.

If you want a bit more luxury Lis, a few km's down the road there's Mogotlho. We also stayed here a couple of nights and really enjoyed the hospitality and again, the camp staff are gems.
