While I'm writing here it sounds like Lions have caught a Zebra on the Orpen rd because the Zebras are going crazy and now the Lions are roaring like crazy  O-/ 0-

11 Dec:

We left camp at 05:00 and took the S100 first sighting AWC O\/ O\/ (a first for all of us) and that was that except for the usual sightings \O . We then headed for Orpen and boy was that a great desision...... just past the Rabelias turnoff we came accross 18 Doggies ^Q^ O:V O/\ O\/ they where all in the road and the bonus... there where young Doggies amongst them all I can say is WOW WOW WOW O\/ O/\ . We took the S146, S145, S39 and S126 and our sightings was just as good...Sable, Grey Duiker, mating pair of Steenbok, very big snail, Ellies, Camelion and Buffaloes. We also saw lots of baby Wildebeest and Zebra and offcourse lots of Impala babies, unfortunately no Leopard and no Lions until we got to the Satara gate where we saw cars standing.....it was a Lion but not the sighting we wanted to see, this was the worst sighting I've ever seen and hope I never see it again :-( :-( , there next to the road was the skinniest and sickes Lioness I have ever seen, she walked out of the bush very slowly and floped down in the grass and just layed there :-( :-( :-( , we later saw a SANparks vehicle going out to her, I will try and find out what happened today \O .

It was a good day in sightings ^Q^ \O but I felt so sorry for the poor Lioness :-( .......but as they say thats life 0/0 \O ;-)

Just a quick update on 12 and 13 Dec.....

Sightings was the usual suspects and then Lions on a kill on the S90 O\/ and a Lion on the road to Tsjokwane O\/ , lots of birds enjoying all the goggas that came out after the rain, some huge Lizards and other creatures 0- 0- .

I have worked out why I can't find the Leopards and the big prides of Lions........the animals in Kruger have 2 way radios and warn each other when they see me driving along O** O** O** O** , thats my only explanation, we've been driving on the S100 slow, very early in the morning, during the day and just before gate closing but nada, nothing, niks.......... 0*\ 0*\ X#X I'll have a beer or two, these animals is driving me to alcohol 0*\ O** -O- .

See you all later... wish us luck

16 Dec:

So today was our last day in KNP and we could not for a better start to it....... X#X X#X

My wife and daughters(oh my wife joined us on 13 Dec)left Satara before me and about 23 km's from Satara they had a awesome sighting........they saw first 4 hayenas with a fresh kill(Zebra foal) then at the same sight as the Hayenas first they saw a Cheetah cross the road followed by 3 Lions(2 lionesses and 1 male)  O/\ ^Q^ O\/ . What we think happened was a Cheetah caught a Zebra foal and was robbed by the Hayenas wich was then chased away by the male Lion who finished the meal. I missed the Cheetah 0*\ 0*\ but saw the rest off the show.

The rest of the road to Crocodile Bridge was quiet and our sightinhs included Rhinos, Baboons, Monkeys, lots of Ellies with babies, Warthog, Hippos, Baffaloes, Zebra, Wildebeest, Steenbok and lots of birds.

Croc Bridge is now my favourite camp ^Q^ , this is a great camp and from now on it will be our camp for short visits to Kruger \O ;-) .

Tomorrow we will leave Kruger at 05:30 :-( :-(

As soon as my pics are sorted I will do a camp and day by day pic report \O
