What sightings, I can't believe it is so green there in the desert!

Love the kitten! :ty:
The greenery is beautiful but it does confuse me as well. lol
I must admit there were still many dry and barren areas. There had been many a fire during the past couple of months and not all the burnt areas had received rain to help the vegetation bounce back....especially up north.

It was time to pack up our shack =O: and move up to Nossob. We had spent 5 wonderful days in Twee Rivieren and we had been lucky enough to get a campsite up on the hill. Previously those campsites were non-electrified and if you wanted one of the them one had to book one at the time of booking. We can quite happily camp without electricity and I do enjoy being up on the hill as I tend to find more birds up there. Quite often one had to fight for your booked campsite. Far too many people just plonked themselves on a vacant non-electrified campsite and ran excessive long leads to an electricity outlet. They are now ( bar one tiny one) all electrified so that at least prevents all the arguments that were happening.... so I was extremely happy to get my #1 favourite campsite at TR.

Herewith a photo of our "shack" lol .

Now that Doug has retired and we can spend longer in our most favourite of places we have made ourselves a little bit more comfortable. Our rooftop tent is no longer on the top of Monty...it is now on "Mini". It really is a mini trailer but it serves our purpose. I had also decided to treat myself to a Gazebo.. a very lightweight one, basically to create a bit of shade if needed but also not too stinking hot to sit under. No reason why one can't have a bit of comfort ..right ???? lol lol

We were up bright and early ( well Doug was ...that is not really my strong point) and were ready to leave at gate opening time. We had packed up the gazebo the evening before so there wasn't much to do in the morning. I was very much looking forward to our stay at Nossob....

When we move from one camp to the next I realise that Doug wants to get there and get sorted so I do wind my neck in a bit and do not stop him for all the tiny little birds etc. But before long I spotted something moving through the bushes .....
You have to stop I said ...Spots I said !!
The spots belonged to a cheetah ...walking in amongst the bushes right next to the side of the road.

I was was battling to get any kind of a clear shot of this cheetah when all of a sudden it veered out from the bushes and I managed to get some lovely shots. I will share one of the very many that I took....

By now we had a few cars backed up behind us and one or two had overtaken us and we were getting a little bit hemmed in. This is when you wish the cheetah would just move away from view so that you could happily carry on with your task at hand...getting to Nossob!! With that, the cheetah walked to a tree and plonked down in the shade thereof...after a few minutes we realised that cheetah was settling down for a nap so we happily moved on leaving the major traffic jam, that had erupted ,behind. Nossob was calling...

We had decided to stop at Kij Kij dam to have our morning coffee as opposed to stopping at Melkvlei 12 km further on.
I managed to photograph a few birds ...
The local Black-headed Heron was in his favourite spot...

and there were many Red-billed Queleas perched in the shrubs . Their breeding plumage was quite stunning.

We didn't waste too much time over coffee and we were soon on our way ....only for me to spot a few spots on top of a dune. :-)

Another cheetah ..

The cheetah sat and looked ...we sat and looked ...the cheetah just sat and sat and ...looked. We decided that cheetah was just enjoying the scenery and was in no hurry to move on. We decided to move on....Nossob was calling... O**

Not half an hour later I spotted a few more spots ...this time spots x 2. The spots were quite far away and were walking away from us ....I quickly took a photo or two.

Yes two more cheetahs....we had one or two cars behind us so it was a bit difficult to reverse. We moved on.
Not a bad innings ...4 cheetah seen in just over two hrs. I can live with that... O\/

The scenery, as we progressed further north, was changing . There were many dry and desolate patches but every now and then there was a burst of yellow....

The rest of our trip to Nossob was pretty much uneventful. We managed to get a lovely campsite at Nossob....we had 11 days booked at Nossob, but two of those would be taken up at Gharagab. Life was good !!!

Wow, Monty is still up and running ^Q^ ^Q^

What exaggerated cheetah sightings, three in a row presenting four cats

The Quelea colours against the green of the tree make a marvellous picture ^Q^ ^Q^ Also the heron is not bad \O
