Bushbuckridge/Acornhoek R40 Protests

Post by Richprins »

R40 closed due to community protest
The police are on heightened alert.

The R40 between Shatale and Accornhoek is currently closed due to a protest underway at Rainbow in Bushbuckridge.

According to information from the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, it is alleged that the protesters have blockaded the road with a burned-out truck.

Motorists using that road are urged to explore alternative routes.

I don't know if it is right that a small group of persons can block a busy national road for their personal claims :-? We are never told, why they are doing it. Maybe it is the only way they have to be heard -O-
