That dam is sometimes difficult to view if one doesn't have a good spot,depending on how dense the vegetation is?

The ellies sliding down the sand bank and then "playing" is awesome

The genet in camp and then a black mamba Shows one has to pay attention walking around in camp at night

Nice with so much life around the waterhole Strange that there were no birds, but having rained earlier.......

Birdwise it was a bit disappointing that day but gladly there were other things to look for instead

Gladly there is normally not much traffic so you can choose always the best spot at the dam - At least there is still water left as I remember two years ago there was that dam already empty in February

We had another wonderful time in watching them during our stay at the whoterhole

Thanks for catching up, Bushcraft Since that encounter with the black mamba I am now extremely alert when walking around by night

Although we drove via Girivana and also paid Nsemani dam a visit nothing came around besides more waterbucks



until we then reached Satara and gladly it was already time to check in and we got again one of our favourite bungalows along the fence, G177 which will be our home for the next four days. After our long drive we made a long break and simply enjoyed the view from the verandah so it was already very late when we picked ourselves up to do a short afternoon drive which leaded us to the S100. We came across grey louries



and for sure waterbucks which we do always find in this area.





Also this area looked extreme dry although it must have rained the previous days here as well as the Mananga trail was again closed - Zebras and one of the always noisy woodland kingfishers came across



and then we got stuck at a African hawk eagle sighting.



It were two of them and we switched from one to the other as one was busy on feeding on a kill



which must have been extreme yummy.

As it was about time to return to camp we drove back and whilst the braai was going Timon spotted a lizard close to our bungalow



and after we were fed and watered as well it was already time for the bed.

Sunday, 18. February 2018 - Satara

Our roads we paid a visit: H1-3 - S100 - S41 - S90 - H4-1 - H6 - S41 - S100 - H1-3 - H7 - S12 - S40 - H7

Our first full day in Satara is leading us always along the S100 and so it was today but same was today on the extreme quiet side. We at least could spot an African fish eagle



and then only in the vicinity of Shibotwana waterhole masses of wildebeests with lots of youngsters could be seen.



No beautiful sunrise today as it was extreme cloudy and on top cold but the weather did not bother the duiker we then came across in a partly green vegetation along the Nwantesi.



The first giraffes for the day appeared and were doing what seems to be their favourite activity a whole day long -



feeding on an acacia tree.



Meanwhile the sun tried to make its way through the clouds and partly a bit sunshine could be seen – The rest of our ride was disappointingly quiet until we reached the very last loop on the S100 where you have a wonderful view into the Nwanetsi which partly was still carrying water and suddenly we saw a movement – obviously a huge crocodile had been startled up and ran straight into the water



same looked as if it was smiling! The minute same reached the water it was no longer to be seen. On our way along the S41 after we paid Gudzani dam a short visit which looked sad with most of the dam dry we came across more wildebeests
