One of my favourite roads in Kruger. I usually enter Malelane
But also one of my least favourite , as my last drive is usually Skukuza to Malelane
Have had some really good sightings along here over the years.

Thanks, Dzombs!
This is another one of those major roads that is for communications rather than sightseeing purposes.
It does not really follow a river or divert to waterpoints, but has some great scenery, though!
Renosterpan is one waterpoint, with Kwaggaspan the other.

Kwaggaspan:
Of course there is Afsaal picnic spot half way up, one of the busiest in Kruger!

It can be a busy road.
And I have often seen Afsaal crowded with the jeep jockeys.
But I still like it.
The road meanders through the koppies on the southern section.
Good for Klipspringers
And had an excellent Cheetah sighting in this region
The open plains around Afsaal are usually quite productive.
Lots of grazers etc.
And had my first ever LIT (Leopard in a Tree) sighting not far from Skukuza.

Kwaggaspan is near the northern end of the road, on the Muhlamba spruit. It has often been closed over the years, but is open at the moment, I think:
