Re: Visiting the KTP again…
Another “First' for us was this sighting of vultures. Well, we have seen vultures in the park..plenty of them ..even a White-headed Vulture but we have never seen vultures on a kill. I have seen vultures on a kill in other parks but never in the KTP. This sighting was just south of Kwang.... and wow ..what a show they put on for us. There was plenty of squabbling going on and the Lappet-faced Vultures , although in minority , were definitely in command. There were a couple of Yellow-bllled kites flying around but they kept their distance. We were told by a passer-by that the kill was that of a Hartebeest. To me it looks more like a Blue Wildebeest.
But enough of the photographs...the video gives you a much better impression of what was going on. :)

We left them to it...the traffic was building up and we were keen to get back to our happy place - Polentswa. We pulled in at Kwang ( we have seen hordes of Vultures there in the past) and we presumed that the vultures that were leaving the kill were making their way to Kwang for a drink....but no such luck. Kwang was devoid of all birdlife.

Re: Visiting the KTP again…
We were lucky to watch them on a kill twice so far - and I totally agree that it's something of its own
One sightings was very good - right next to the road somewhere around Monro / Kamfersboom.
The other one was at Grootkolk, but it was more the noises and the fact that the vultures arrived and departed than really seeing much.
Definitely a great sighting, Michele

God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.

Thx Mel..it was indeed a great sighting . :) but in this case I had to sit on my beanbag so that I could see over the bushes ..but the sighting was fairly close. :) :)Mel wrote:We were lucky to watch them on a kill twice so far - and I totally agree that it's something of its own
